I am sure to be speaking for a lot of people, like myself, that has a parent in a Nursing Home.Mother and Father made it perfectly clear of the wishes of wanting to "be home" in the end. That final wish of my Dad is what is driving Mother to want to go home..
I will get to the point now..
Although Mom is fully able to speak, and almost walk, I have always wondered "What is going on in Moms room when Im not there." Mom has been telling us kids that the staff have not been cleaning her wounds, changing her dressings, helping her to sit up in bed, and they have not been turning her every 2 hours per doctors orders.To find out, I have decided to install a hidden camera with a self recording DVR. Now, whenever I want to see what the Aids , Nurses or Doctors are doing, I just take the SD Card and view it on my laptop..
And to answer the question fully, Mom was not taken care of in the simplest sense, her wounds got worst, and she was in severe pain all the time. Finally-THANK God, she had a doctors appointment in Cleveland, Ohio. The doctor took one look at her and admitted her ASAP. To make a long story short, her right foot was amputated halfway to her knee because of the care she did not receive while at the home for rehabilitation.
Please pay attention when an elder says something is not right, and question everything!!
